Achoo! Tis the catch a cold.

Luckily, this recipe calls for some household ingredients that even a poor graduate student such as myself can mix together in a pinch.

With a couple of teaspoons of vitamin C- rich lemon juice; calcium and potassium loaded brown sugar (which contains less calories than white sugar); a shot of good old fashioned dark rum (or bourbon/ whiskey depending on your preference), topped off with some hot water and a lemon slice; anyone suffering from a runny nose or sore throat can feel some relief during the Holiday Season.

So sit back, snuggle up with a box of tissues and sip your cold goodbye.

The Hot Toddy
1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum or Bourbon or Whisky
1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
~ 2 oz of hot water ( more if needed)
Garnish with a lemon slice
