This week is Thanksgiving and for many of us our plates will be piled high with warm and hearty meals prepared by loved ones in the comfort of homes across America. For others Thanksgiving is not so simple. Hundreds of people will line up outside of local soup kitchens, food banks, churches and hospitals in the hopes of experiencing a warm meal.

If you're one of the lucky ones this year we ask that you take this time to contemplate the alternative. Imagine your life with less and use this opportunity to give more. Local food banks across America will be extending their usual efforts and amping up their manpower to show charity and compassion to those who continue to struggle.

Food drives, turkey tosses, and volunteer opportunities abound in many suburban areas. Pick up a paper, get online, visit a community center and find out how you can help. Every little bit helps. Every minute is precious and we guarantee your contribution, whether it be time, money or a bag full of Thanksgiving goodies, will not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

We thank you in advance for your generosity.

Happy Thanksgiving.
