Shrimp Fra Diavolo is one of our favorite dishes to order whenever we see it on an Italian menu. The spicy richness of this dish when paired with a crisp white wine will send your taste buds reeling in ecstasy.  See for yourselves:

1 lb. thawed, peeled, deveined, raw shrimp (tail on/off is up to you, we prefer off)
1, 14 oz can of diced tomatoes
1 medium yellow onion sliced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tsp chopped basil
1 tbsp butter
2 cups of penne pasta
3 cups of water
1 tbsp salt

  • Bring the water and 1 tbsp of salt to a boil and add the penne. Cook until al dente and set aside.
  • Add the olive oil to a large frying pan and allow to heat.
  • Add the onions to the olive oil and cook until soft.
  • When the onions have softened add the tomatoes, garlic, red pepper flakes, white wine and salt.
  • Bring the sauce to a boil and add the shrimp.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp is pink and firm.
  • Add the pasta to the frying pan, toss and serve.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped basil leaves.
A romantic evening meal that goes well with some soft music and a bottle of white. Enjoy!
