Mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided to take on New York City's obesity battle by banning sugary drinks from the city's schools, streets, theaters, food carts and delis. Bloomberg recently signed a far-reaching municipal ban on sugary beverages that contain 25 calories per 8 fluid ounces and less than 51% milk or milk substitute by volume as an ingredient.

Mayor Bloomberg's other efforts to increase health and wellness within New York City include a campaign to cut down on salt, trans fat and an reveal calorie counts at all NYC restaurants. Mayor Bloomberg has also been responsible for banning smoking in all New York restaurants over the last 10 years.
