Many rumors exist about the health benefits of dark chocolate over milk chocolate, making divulgence in the dark dessert a dream for those counting calories. But are these rumored health benefits true, does dark chocolate offer a healthier alternative to it's dairy driven counterpart?

After careful investigation our Yumologists have discovered that YES, dark chocolate is indeed the healthier choice when it comes to your cocoa cravings. Dark chocolate has a lower fat content due to it's decreased levels of milk, and a higher natural cocoa percentage resulting in decreased levels of sugar.

Dark chocolate also has the ability to satiete appettites more so than milk chocolate. A study performed by the University of Copenhagen in Denmark proved that subjects who ate dark chocolate were not as hungry two and a half hours later than those who consumed milk chocolate.

So the next time you're cruising the vending machine for an afternoon pick-me-up do yourself a favor and decide on dark.
