Always a favorite ingredient in our Yumology kitchen, Wasabi is a powerful green paste that packs a spicy punch.

You'll typically find wasabi as an accompaniment to Japanese cooking. Sushi, for example, always comes with a side of wasabi paste to either spread atop your roll or dilute in soy sauce for dipping - wasabi-joyu as the locals like to call it.

Wasabi is really Japanese horseradish, a root vegetable with a spicy mustard flavor that grows along many river beds in Japan.  Wasabi is commonly ground into a paste before serving but it is also available in a powder form.

Although wasabi flavoring is typically used with sushi and fish, our Yumologists have realized that mixing wasabi powder in many cream-based condiments like mayonnaise or ranch dressing, often produces delicious results.
